About the National Independent Reconciliation Commission

Introduction
The National Reconciliation Commission (NRC) was established on 09/06/05, and rectified by the parliament of transitional federal government on 01/06/06. The National Reconciliation Commission consists of 30 members.
The executive committees consisting of 5 members who were elected on 30/06/2006, (chairman, 1st deputy chairman, 2nd chairman, treasurer, and secretary.
Article number 68 of National charter TFG gave the cabinet of ministers to nominate independent NRC where as the members of parliament have the jurisdiction to approve which have been processed accordingly.
As the above activities have been completed the NRC appointed four sub- committees among themselves as follows: –

  1. Planning and research committee (6 members)
  2. Awareness and public relationship (7 members)
  3. Monitoring and regional coordination (7 members)
  4. Discipline committee (5 members)

Each and every of the above mentioned committees has belonged to its chairman and a secretary.

  2. to create reconciliation implementing plan and activities
  3. Establishing District and Regional reconciliation committee
  4. Make peaceful initiatives among warring clans
  5. courage dialogue in order that baler not the bullet prevails
  6. To raise the public awareness towards peace
  7. To make progressive reports and highlights to the p-peace initiatives
  8. To make campaigning programmed for peace dialogue throughout the media and the local journals
  9. To establish Reconciliation centers in all parts of Somalia.

ACTIVITIES

  • To create reconciling and dialogue in internal disputes in  the Regions and   Districts levels
  • Media campaigning through the Radio and local journals
  • Held seminars and workshops to give specific training for the National Reconciliation Commission and communities as well
  • To train the commission so as to make effective Reconciliation

Vision of the Commission: –

To reach and advocate viable and understanding environment of peace and effective administration to attend the development of social activities and advocate to protect conflicts  and environmental condition in  the  various aspects in the communities .

As agreed in the Somali reconciliation conference and depicted in the charter, the National reconciliation commission was approved by cabinet ministers in June 2005. Since then they have been inclusive present system. They prepared their internal regulation and the work plan of the institution and made research concerning about Somali conflicts. However they have limited resources to accomplish its mandate, in order to contribute building a peaceful state.
